Let's Face It (Exhibit Launch)
The Cardston Historical Society announces the premier launch of a local artist exhibit portraying one hundred indigenous children who attended residential schools across Canada.
The premier exhibit of “Let’s Face It” will launch on
Wednesday, July 6 at 7 PM
Cardston Courthouse & Heritage Museum.
The Exhibit Launch is open to the public.
“This exhibit is one way to contribute to the building of understanding and restoration of respectful reconciliation,” says Blaine Jensen, President of the Historical Society. Artist Faye Johansen will speak to the recently completed exhibit of one hundred charcoal drawings drawn from photographs of Indigenous children she had viewed on the Truth & Reconciliation Commission website. Inspired by these photographs, she undertook to capture the faces of one hundred of these children in charcoal.
Mrs. Johansen says she feels that she has captured the appearance and spirit of these children with her work. Attendees will be able to attend on Wednesday to hear Mrs. Johansen’s address and view her drawings.
For those unable to attend, this exhibit will be featured during our regular hours from July 11-29, Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
Regular Admission fees apply:
Children, Annual Pass Holders, Society Members - Free
Youth (12-18 yrs.) - $3
Adults - $5
